Apple Recipe from Spain


25g/1oz butter
2 tbsp soft brown sugar
1 apple, cored and chopped
100g/3½oz plain flour
100g/3½oz butter, cubed
2 tbsp caster sugar
double cream, to serve


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the soft brown sugar and chopped apple and fry gently until the sugar has melted and the apples have softened slightly. Spoon the apple mix into a gratin dish.
  3. Place the flour and butter into a small bowl and rub together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble mix over the apples and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden-brown on top.
  5. Serve with a drizzle of double cream.
